There is still a legal requirement for our business to take reasonable measures to minimise the risk of exposure to coronavirus. We therefore require some rules to remain in place and some degree of physical distancing.
Explanation as to why we still need to enforce rules can be found in an excerpt from the Welsh Gov below;
"There is still a legal requirement for businesses, employers and other organisations to carry out a risk assessment and to take reasonable measures to minimise the risk of exposure to and spread of coronavirus.
There are a wide range of things that may need to be put in place to lower risks. These are set out in more detail in separate guidance.
You should be aware that these requirements are a legal duty, and you should follow any rules that are put in place by your employer or any businesses or other organisations you visit. This might include:
Physical distancing in the premises
Limiting numbers or group sizes
Providing contact details to support contact tracing
Providing table service
Limiting numbers of people at pinch-points, such as toilets
Use of face coverings, even in indoor premises not normally open to the public
You can find our risk assessment here.
What you will still need to do at the studio.
Agree to your contact details being shared with Test, Trace, Protect from the organisers class list if there is a need for it.
Do not attend the studio if you have tested positive on an LFT or PCR test or if you have any coronavirus symptoms.
Do not attend the studio if you have been contacted by track and trace and have been identified as a close contact to someone who has tested positive. This will be the case even if you are double jabbed and so do not need to self isolate. You may return to the studio after their second negative PCR test result on day 8.
Adhere to social distancing inside the studio, as outlined below and signposted in the studio.
Wear a face covering at all times, except for when you're dancing (unless you're medically exempt).
Wait outside the studio until the start time of your class and leave as soon as your class has finished.
Do not bring any bags into the studio.
Use the hand sanitiser provided when entering and exiting the building and following good hand hygiene.
Complete a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms before arriving at the studio.
Only people with a pre booked space in a class are to enter the dance studio. Friends/parents to wait in their cars.
Face Coverings
In short:
You do not need to wear a face covering while taking your class unless you wish to do so.
You will have to wear a face covering at all other times while at the studio e.g while walking to your class, while visiting the toilet, as soon as the class finishes until you leave the premises.
No bags are to be brought into the studio.
You must wait outside the building until the start time of your class, and then go straight to your floor marker to start your class.
You must leave the studio immediately after your class as you will not be able to stay inside without a mask after the period of strenuous activity is complete.
Social Distancing
As a business we are required to;
ensure that other reasonable measures are taken to minimise risk of exposure to the virus, in particular by limiting close face to face interaction and by improving hygiene;
Each area of the building has strict limits on the amount of adults that it can hold. Floor markers will be in place throughout the building showing where you are able to stand/wait/queue/dance.
Studio physical distancing measures will allow 2m between people side to side where face to face interaction is more of a risk and 1.5m between rows where people are front to back facing and so a mitigating factor. Floor markers will show where each dancer needs to stand and dance for the duration of the class.
Every class will need to be booked in advance to ensure that there is available space for you in the studio. You will not be allowed to join a class that is fully booked.
To avoid face to face interaction we suggest that the teacher faces the mirror when teaching so that they have their back to the dancers. As much as possible they should reduce their interaction and demonstration with the class face on.
See below where studio floor markers will be placed.
Currently the big studio can hold a max of 21 participants and the smaller studio can hold 13 participants. This is in addition to the teacher/organisers who have a section the width of the studio at the front.
Pre-attendance official symptom check
All customers, students and visitors must undergo a self-assessment for any COVID-19 symptoms before arriving at the studio.
Symptoms include;
a high temperature:Â this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
a new, continuous cough:Â this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste:Â this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
No-one should leave home to participate in a class if they, or someone they live with, is symptomatic - or suspects they may have been exposed to the virus. They should immediately self-isolate (as well as their household and extended household), follow the Welsh Government’s self-isolation guidelines, and apply for a Coronavirus test.
Upon arrival, as part of the Test, Trace, Protect form you will be asked if you have completed a self-assessment for COVID-19 symptoms. Entry can be refused to anyone who is unable to provide assurance that they have done so and that to the best of their knowledge it is safe for them to take part. Anyone refused entry on this basis will be instructed to immediately self-isolate and to follow the steps set out above.
Further lockdown - local or national
There may be a need for short notice changes/cancellations and closure due to the overall threat level or community prevalence of COVID-19.
